Journeys of Light is an initiative by the acclaimed Arabic Fusion artist Kamal Musallam aiming to spread the light and the spirit of collaboration between artists hailing from the East and the West. Each traveling on their own Journey of Light, combining forces and synergies to produce one show with inspiring music that is composed by Kamal and some of his guest artists, all with a Cross-Cultural Fusion of musical elements from across various musical traditions, re-arranged and orchestrated by Kamal and the group's core team. Journeys Of Light features stars from across the globe including, yet not limited to, Kamal Musallam on oud and guitar, Lisa Gerrard, Loire Cotler, Rasha Rizk and Anjana Rajagopalan on vocals, Glen Velez on percussion, Mike Del Ferro on piano, Dwiki Dharmawan on synthesisers, Marc Miralta on drums and Daniele Cappucci on double bass among others. The group is accompanied by a chamber orchestra conducted by Stoyan Stoyanov. With this musical group, the artists wish to tell the world their stories through Music…the story of their ancestors who traveled the world to spread peace, love and culture, who sailed from India and China until the shores of Italy and Spain, crossing the deserts of Arabia and the plains and mountains of the Middle East and North Africa…spending nights under the stars, enchanting their joys and their sorrows to the beautiful moon, sweating their days under the burning sun, carrying with them their traditions, languages, beliefs, music, arts, medicine and all kinds of new goods and merchandise. A story that carries deep meanings and all kinds of human feelings, thoughts...a journey full of cultural, intellectual and spiritual discoveries that led to their fulfillment and enlightenment. The first Journeys Of Light concert was very successfully held at Tanweer Festival in Sharjah on November 23rd, 2024.
